Comparison
A Mediatel Data alternative, but not for everyone.
Mediatel Data has been making contact-centre software for 29 years, has large Romanian clients and service contracts. We have a published per-minute price, installation on your own server, and the voice agent in the same product as the switch. They are two different things.
Mediatel makes sense if you want a vendor with long-standing Romanian references and a support contract you can ring. CallAgent makes sense if you want the per-minute price published, the product installed on your own infrastructure, and the AI voice agent, the switch and the contact centre in one place.
The rule this page is written under: everything we say about Mediatel is read off mediatel.ro; we do not guess at prices, architecture or capabilities they do not publish; and where we do not know, the cell says we do not know. The rows we lose stay in the table.
Two products for different companies
CallAgent is for you if…
You want to know what a minute costs before you speak to a salesperson. Or you want the recordings and transcripts to sit on your own infrastructure. Or you have a technical team and want to connect the assistant to your systems through an API and MCP, with no implementation project.
Mediatel is for you if…
You need a vendor with a track record and references you can call, a support contract, and a team that does the implementation. Or you need channels we do not have: chat, email, video, workforce management.
Nine dimensions, three of them lost
The three rows we lose are exactly the ones that matter to a bank or a large clinic. We leave them in the table because otherwise the table would be worth nothing.
| Dimension | CallAgent | Mediatel Data |
|---|---|---|
| what it actually is | A voice agent platform with a SIP PBX and a contact centre in one console. The channel is the telephone. | A contact-centre suite: call centre, omnichannel, chatbot, workforce management, plus AI products — voicebot, agent assistant, interaction analytics. |
| price | Published: €0.10 per minute platform margin, plus provider costs at their price. The Starter plan has no subscription. | No price list on their site. We found no pricing page, so we cannot compare numbers. |
| the language of the product | Site, console, guides and billing in Romanian and English, with a separate address for each language. | The mediatel.ro site is entirely in English, with no Romanian version. What language their product speaks internally we cannot know from outside. |
| the AI voice agent | It is the product, not a module: you pick the transcriber, the model and the voice per assistant and see the latency budget on every turn. | They have a Voicebot and an Agent Assistant described on their site, as part of the suite. We cannot say how they are configured or which providers they use. |
| where it runs | A documented install on your own server, in containers, with recordings written straight into your own bucket. | We found no description of their delivery model on their site, so we assert nothing. |
| telephony | Twilio works end to end. Our own switch and SIP trunks are built, but an inbound call over a trunk does not reach an assistant yet. | A contact-centre vendor with 29 years in the market almost certainly works with carrier trunks. We have no public source to cite for it, so we do not put an assertion in its place. |
| track record and references Mediatel Data wins this row | No customer served. Eleven real calls in total, six of which failed. | 29 years in the market and case studies published on their site with large Romanian names. |
| support and implementation Mediatel Data wins this row | Documentation, guides and code. There is no implementation team and no support contract. | A vendor with a support organisation and implementation projects, which for many companies is exactly what is being bought. |
| channels besides the phone Mediatel Data wins this row | Telephony only. We have no chat, email, video or workforce management. | An omnichannel platform, a chatbot, a video application and workforce management, described on their site. |
The Mediatel information is read from mediatel.ro in September 2026, from their product pages. We have had no access to a quote, a contract or an installation of theirs, so we say nothing about their pricing, their architecture or their languages.[1]
When not to pick us
If you recognise yourself in any of the situations below, Mediatel or another established vendor is the right answer, and we would rather say so now.
What we do differently
Four concrete things, each checkable on the site or in the product.
The price is public
What a minute costs is on the pricing page, with one real call itemised by stage, including the rows that stayed at zero.
Runs at your place
A documented container install, with recordings written straight into your own bucket across eight destinations.
One product
The voice agent, the SIP PBX and the contact centre are the same objects, in the same console.
It wires itself in
221 documented OpenAPI paths, webhooks with redelivery, MCP servers, and CallAgent exposed as an MCP server itself.
What people ask when comparing the two
Can CallAgent replace Mediatel?
For a small or mid-sized telephone call centre that wants an AI voice agent plus human operators, in principle yes — but not today, because we have served no customer and have no support contract. For a company that also uses chat, email, video or workforce management, no: those channels do not exist here.
How does the price compare with Mediatel?
We cannot compare, because Mediatel publishes no prices on their site. Ours is written down: €0.10 per minute platform margin applied to the real billable seconds, plus provider costs at their price, and the Starter plan has no subscription.
Can we move from an existing contact centre?
Numbers can be imported from a Twilio account of your own, and assistants, queues and operators are configured from the console or the API. What does not exist is number porting and an automatic import from another system, and an inbound call over your own SIP trunk does not work yet.
Why do you say good things about a competitor?
Because they are true, and because anyone comparing seriously will find them anyway. A page claiming a vendor with 29 years and large clients has no advantage over a product with no customers disqualifies itself in the first sentence.
What to do next
Read the page that says what does not work first. It is the most useful page on this site for anyone thinking about putting real traffic through the system.
What else people compare us with
If you got this far you probably have two other tabs open. They are written under the same rule: sentences in both columns, and the rows we lose left in the table.
- Genesys alternative For somebody buying an enterprise contact centre, with everything in it and an implementation project around it.
- CallAgent vs Twilio Flex For somebody with developers who wants to build their own agent desktop on top of a telephony platform.
- Zendesk Talk alternative For somebody already on Zendesk who wants telephony too, with a Romanian agent interface.
- CallAgent vs Vapi For somebody who wants only the platform, as cheap per minute as possible, with nothing to administer.
- CallAgent vs Retell AI For somebody building the agent quickly and connecting it to the contact centre they already run.
Bring the quote you already have
A per-seat contract and a per-minute one do not compare on paper. Send the numbers you were given and we will work out what the same traffic costs here, including the parts that are worse.
