2026-09-05 The first real calls have been placed: five ended normally, six failed. Here is what broke.

Comparison

Genesys is the standard. We are the per-minute version.

Genesys has been making contact centre software since 1990, has over 8,000 organisations on the platform and publishes its price in euros. It is the product everything else is compared with, us included — and this page loses six rows out of twelve.

Choose Genesys if you are replacing an entire contact centre, with workforce management, quality assurance and every channel, and if you need certifications, a contract with credits and an implementation team. Choose CallAgent if you would rather pay per minute of call than per seat, and want the product installed on your own infrastructure, in Romanian.

The rule this page is written under: every row has a sentence in both columns; everything we say about Genesys is read off genesys.com, their price list and their public documentation; and the rows we lose stay in the table. There are six of twelve, and they are exactly what a large company is buying.

§01 Who for

An enterprise contact centre and a per-minute product

CallAgent is for you if…

Your traffic is uneven and a per-seat price charges you for the hours nobody rings. Or you want the recordings on your own infrastructure rather than in a region picked from a menu. Or you work in Romania and want the console, the guides and the invoice in Romanian.

Genesys is for you if…

You have tens or hundreds of agents and are replacing all of it: skills routing, workforce management, quality assurance, every channel, the reporting. Or your procurement requires ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI and a vendor that has been doing this since 1990, with an implementation organisation behind it.

§02 Table

Twelve dimensions, six of them lost

This is the comparison we lose most heavily on this site, and rightly: they have been doing it for thirty-six years and we have not served a single customer.

CallAgent compared with Genesys Cloud, September 2026.
Dimension CallAgent Genesys Cloud
what it actually is A voice agent platform, a SIP PBX and a contact centre, in one console and on one invoice. The channel is the telephone. A complete contact centre suite: omnichannel routing, IVR, workforce management, quality assurance, reporting and journey management.
how complete the contact centre is Genesys Cloud wins this row Queues, skills, a browser softphone, dispositions, wrap-up, and a supervisor console with listen, whisper and barge. We have no workforce management and no quality assurance. Everything we have, plus forecasting and scheduling, quality management, speech and text analytics, and digital channels. It is the reference product in the category.
how you pay €0.10 per minute of call, on the real billable seconds, plus provider costs at their price. An hour in which nobody rings costs nothing. Per named user per month on an annual commitment: €60 for the voice licence, then €92, €124 and €192 for the higher bundles. There is also a concurrent-user model and an hourly one at €1.20.
what the AI part costs It is inside the same €0.10 a minute. There is no second unit of account and nothing expires. Tokens: 250 included per organisation per month, then €0.80 each. A virtual agent consumes 1.2 tokens per interaction and Agent Copilot 40 tokens per named user. Their documentation states that tokens do not roll over.
telephony Genesys Cloud wins this row Twilio works end to end. Our own FreeSWITCH switch and SIP trunks are built, but an inbound call over a trunk does not reach an assistant yet. Their own voice service, with published rates for Romania — €4 a month for the number and €0.0128 an inbound minute — or your own carrier, with a monthly allotment included.
where it runs Hosted, or installed on your own server in containers with a documented install. Recordings and transcripts can be written straight into your own bucket, across eight destinations. Cloud only, on AWS. In exchange the European regions are many — Frankfurt, Dublin, London, Paris, Zurich — plus an announced German sovereign region, and their agreement states the region will not be changed without the customer's prior written consent.
Romanian The console, the guides, the billing and the documentation are in Romanian, and the personal-data masking recognises the Romanian CNP. Romanian appears in five of their roughly twenty-seven per-feature language tables — whisper audio, enhanced text to speech, third-party voice transcription, transcript translation and the messaging widget. It is absent from the agent interface, from tier-one support and from every one of their virtual-agent products.
guaranteed availability Genesys Cloud wins this row There is none. We have no service that could support an availability commitment and we do not sign one. A service level agreement with credits at defined thresholds. Their wording commits to "commercially reasonable best efforts to provide 100% uptime" — so not a guaranteed percentage — but the credits are real and written down.
support and implementation Genesys Cloud wins this row Documentation, guides and code. There is no implementation team and no support contract. A global support organisation, professional services and a partner network. For many companies that is the thing actually being bought.
certifications Genesys Cloud wins this row None. There is no external audit and no third-party penetration test has been done. SOC 1, 2 and 3 Type 2, ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 42001, PCI DSS, HIPAA, GDPR, DORA and more, listed on their trust centre.
real traffic Genesys Cloud wins this row Eleven real calls, six of which failed, and no customer served. More than 8,000 organisations in over 100 countries, by the figure on their own page, from a company that has been doing this since 1990.
cost transparency Every call has per-stage cost rows stored immutably: quantity, unit cost, where the quantity came from, and whether the price was verified against the vendor. The price is a monthly licence, plus tokens, plus telephony minutes, each with its own bill. A per-stage breakdown of a single call does not appear in their public documentation.

The Genesys figures are read from genesys.com/pricing, their published voice rate cards and their public documentation, in September 2026. Their prices are stated as being on an annual commitment, and their own page notes that usage-based pricing may apply on top.[1]

§03 Against

When not to pick us

Five situations where the right answer is Genesys, or another enterprise vendor. That is more than on any other page here, and it says something.

§04 Differences

What we do differently

Four things, each checkable on the site or in the product.

You pay per call

Not per seat and not in tokens that expire monthly. An hour with no calls costs nothing.

Runs on your machine

A documented container install, with recordings written straight into your own bucket. Not a region picked from a menu.

A Romanian product

Console, guides, billing and CNP masking. They do not have Romanian even in the agent interface.

Cost per stage

Immutable rows on every call, instead of three invoices in three different units.

§05 Questions

What people ask when comparing the two

Can CallAgent replace Genesys?

For a small or mid-sized telephone contact centre, in principle yes. For one that uses workforce management, quality assurance, digital channels and their reporting, no — and not in a few months either, but not at all in the shape we are in today. We have served no customer yet, and that matters more than any row in the table.

Which one works out cheaper?

It depends how full your agents' day is, because the two prices measure different things. They charge per user per month, from €60, plus telephony and plus AI tokens. We charge €0.10 per minute of call, plus provider costs. If your agents talk for eight hours a day the per-seat model can come out better; if the traffic is uneven, paying per minute does not charge you for the quiet.

What are their AI tokens?

The unit their AI features are sold in: 250 included per organisation per month, then €0.80 each, with published conversion rates — 1.2 tokens per interaction for a virtual agent, 40 tokens per named user for Agent Copilot. Their documentation says they do not roll over from month to month. With us there is no second unit: the AI is inside the same €0.10 a minute.

Does Genesys work in Romanian?

Partly, and it is worth checking in exactly the place that matters to you. Romanian appears in five of their language tables — enhanced speech and third-party transcription among them — but it is absent from the agent interface, from tier-one support and from their virtual agents. They have no Romanian site, no Romanian office and no billing in lei.

Why publish a page you lose?

Because people compare anyway, and a page claiming that a product with no customers beats a vendor with 8,000 organisations would disqualify itself in the first sentence. We lose six rows out of twelve. The six we win are real, and for a small Romanian company they are probably the ones that matter.

§06

What to do next

If you are replacing an entire contact centre, ask them for a quote. If you are not, read the page that says what does not work here first.

Send us the quote you were given

A per-seat price plus AI tokens does not compare on paper with a per-minute one. Give us the agent count and the monthly minutes and we will work out the same load here, including the rows where we come off worse.
